"I could have picked any website for my first time driver class, but I chose Driver License School.com because their course is approved by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles."

Here is some important information every teen should know before making an appointment for a Florida first time driver license:

  • You must complete a State-approved Florida drug and alcohol course such as the one offered on this website before you can receive your Florida driver license. You can take this course before your 15th birthday.
  • You must study the Florida Driver Handbook and pass your driver license test before you can get your Florida driver license. The driver license test (or Class E exam) consists of 20 questions on Florida rules of the road and 20 questions on road signs and lane markings. You can take this exam before your 15th birthday.
  • You must be at least 15 years old to apply for your first time driver license. In addition to providing proof of completion for your first time driver course, you will be required to submit proof of identity, pay your licensing fee, and pass additional tests (such as the driving skills test and the vision test).
  • The Florida DHSMV is there to answer any other questions you might have about the process of obtaining your first time driver license in Florida. Visit their website for additional information.

Note: All Florida first time drivers are required to take the Florida drug and alcohol course that is offered on our website. Exceptions include drivers who already have a driver's license from a U.S. state or a jurisdiction (e.g. another country) recognized by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
