The State of Florida driver handbook
is required reading for all Florida teens who are thinking
about getting their first Florida
driver license. (A first Florida
license is also known as a "Class E learner
permit.") You can read the State of
Florida driver handbook to discover important
learner
permit requirement information that explains the
licensing process in detail. For additional information
about getting your learner permit, you can read our
page on how
to get a Florida drivers license.
ABOUT THE ONLINE LEARNERS PERMIT COURSE
Every Florida teen must take a 4-hour learners permit
course as required by state law (§322.095, Florida
Statutes). The learners permit course (also called TLSAE
course, drug
and alcohol class, or driving
learner permit course) is a requirement for ANY
driver who has never had a Florida license or a license
from another state.
This course teaches young drivers about the dangers
of driving after a person has consumed alcohol or used
drugs. The course also deals with the effects of alcohol
and drugs on the human body and mind, the importance
of wearing safety belts, and what a driver should do
in certain emergency situations. Some of these topics
are covered in the State of Florida driver handbook,
but the learners permit course goes into more detail.
To sign up for the Florida learners permit course offered
on our website, just click
here. You can take both the drug and alcohol course
and your driver license test before your 15th birthday.
If you know someone else who will turn 15 soon and needs
to study the State of Florida Driver Handbook
or take the learners permit course, be sure to tell
that person about our website.
ABOUT THE ONLINE DRIVER LICENSE TEST
The State of Florida
driver handbook also contains material that will
prepare each Florida teen for his or her driver license
test. This is the test that covers Florida road rules
and road signs (20 questions on both topics). Unless
you pass the driver license test, you can't get a Florida
license!
Did you know that you can now take this test online?
It's true, but the only way to do this is to first take
your learners permit course online. At the end of the
learners permit course you will see a sign-up area for
the driver license test. Just pay the fee, answer the
security questions, and you're on your way!
