You've probably heard about the TLSAE online course, which is the DHSMV required drug and alcohol course. You can now take this course online on our website by clicking here to sign up. You need this course if you are a Florida teen about to get your first time driver license.

The drug and alcohol course discusses the harmful effects of alcohol and drugs on the body and how a driver's mind can be negatively impacted by these substances. Most TLSAE online courses are ALL READING, but our course uses video, Flash animations, and simple language to help you learn. Students prefer this type of approach to a classroom or all text-based TLSAE course.

After you finish your TLSAE online course, you can sign up to take your driver license test (or road signs and road rules test) on the internet. There is a small testing fee, and you can choose to test in English, Spanish, or Creole.

The driver license test consists of 20 questions on Florida traffic law (road rules) and 20 questions about Florida road signs (pavement markings, etc.). You must study the Florida drivers handbook before you attempt your Florida driver license test.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION: You can take both the TLSAE online course and the Florida driver license test before your 15th birthday. You must be 15 years old to apply for a Florida driver license (learner permit). You are not required to take the TLSAE course if: A) You already have or have had a Florida driver license; or B) You now have or have had a valid driver license from another state or a country recognized by the Florida DHSMV.
